Sorry but what’s with the German love affair with Campari? It’s a hideous drink, yet les Deutsche seem to quaff it nonchalantly. They even sell it in currywirst cabins. “Hallo, zwei currywurst mitt brotchen and … oooh, ja, zwei campari, bitter!”

For those of you who want to know (it could be in a pub quiz contest), Campari is an “aperitif obtained from the infusion of bitter herbs, aromatic plants and fruit in alcohol and water”. The key word there is bitter. And we don’t mean “please”.
